6-string, 7-string, no how about 4-string guitar?
I started listening to soufly when I found out Max was singing and playing lead guitar for the band because I liked his playing when he was in the band Snot. But I noticed that he has only four strings on his ESP guitar. Whats up with that? I think he is a good guitar player, but I don't understand his motive to do that.

I knew a guy who used 5 or 6 strings on his 12 string acoustic, i think it was so he could get his fingers sorted out,perhaps he was lazy?.

When I was a kid i saw a four string SG in a music store. I asked the owner about it and he called it an alto guitar. He said they were geared for banjo players who wanted to play guitar also.

Try taking the top string(so the 6th string) of your guitar and put it in open G tuning. Then try some Rolling Stones songs. Awesome!!!

I think it is just a weird way to play differently...my brother palys bass and he has take off his g-string and put on a low-b from a 5string bass. I sounds awesome and he has a large variety...as far as I know Max was in Sepultura and not snot
