hi everybody, my nickname is Lou and I am 70yrs young. I have wanted to learn guitar since a teenager but circumstances didn’t allow. Then six yrs ago I became seriously ill leading to major surgery two and a half yrs ago. So last yr as part of my recovery I decided it was time to get learning. After six months on the net I decided to go to music college. However afte six months of weekly lessons I found my progress was very slow (can’t even play the simplest tune) so lost interest with college and have know become a member of guitar tricks,

hopefully things will know improve? My only problem is I like Blues and Rock but don’t know which to learn first any advice please? Well that’s me introduced then see you out there oh and a happy new yr to everyone regards Lou😎

Hi Lou

Its great you are still interested in trying. Here in Guitar Tricks I've found some teachers take it slower than others. Start with Anders Mourdssen's lessons in basic blues. Christopher Schelegel is also easy and very comprehensible.

All classes you take here should be level one. Try a whole bunch of different teachers, you are sure to find one who will take you string by string, note by note to understand what you are to do and how to practice bit by but. STICK WITH IT. Learning the simpliest lick you could never play will bring so much joy! Basic chord forms , then licks.

Write me if you have any questions where else to go.

Cynthia D.

Many thanks Cynthia for your response. I have made a start and looking fed to seeing some progress. My biggest problem so far is being able to strum in rythem. The other issue which I just know will come with practice is fluent. Chord changes😎 Regards Lou
