Hi there, living room player here. I've played acoustic for about 5 years and took a few months of lessons. I just bought a Fender Standard Stratocaster (I live in Fullerton, home of Leo Fender, so it's a hometown guitar!) My hometown music store is one of the first to sell Fenders back in the 50's.

I'm OK with several basic chords, but bar chords are beyond me right now. Along with the Strat I bought a Champion 20 amp which I'm experimenting with to figure out what each of the adjustments mean in terms of changes to the sound. I'm pretty lost on voices and effects.

I've watched the first few basic lesson videos and it was great to get a solid foundation on the components of the electric and a refresher on string names, care, etc.

Love my strat! Hoping to get comfy enough to maybe do some jams and possibly even play in church.

Thanks for the new community!

Hey Drew, welcome to Guitar Tricks and thanks for introducing yourself. You're going to have a lot of fun with that Strat!

Thanks, Ben. I'm already loving it. Doing lessons every day. Slow and steady are going to be my watchwords here.

Hey Drew, I am the owner of a brand new Strat as well (fantastic guitar!), and brand new to the guitar. Good luck and get after it!
