hi all , I’m Paul, I’m 38 from the uk. I’ve played since I was 14 but self taught and had a few playing gaps in the years gone by. I would say I’m fairly proficient at playing but think my fundamentals and technique let me down when I’m learning new songs and find myself playing the same riffs ( notice I say riffs not songs) I’ve played for over 20 years. Hoping to go back to basics and improve theoretical knowledge, definitely a metal and rock man but would like to learn many styles . At this age I have no delusions of being a rock star so it’s purely for the enjoyment of it and playing along with my 15 year old daughter who is well on her way to becoming a decent drummer.

Hi Paul!

Very glad to have you part of the community here. Sounds like you and your daughter can make a little garage band! Anyway, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Best,

Billy

Hi Paul:

I have a 7-year-old son who has started to play the drums and a 9-year-old daughter who has started to play guitar. The only way I can get them to practice is to do it along with them - we both have the beginnings of a family band. The difference in my case is that I am picking up the guitar for the first time and working hard not to hold them back!
