Hi everyone,

I am a complete beginner in guitar, and I noticed that the instructor in guitar fundamentals 1 said that when holding a pick you should use your index finger and thumb to grip the pick, and the remaining three fingers should "brush" against the guitar. But then, later when she played it didn't look as if her fingers were brushing. So, my question is, when you guys pick do your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers lightly brush against the guitar? Thanks for any answers :)

Hi evan,

It may not be necessary to let your other fingers brush the against the guitar. But the important thing is to hold the pick correctly with your index and thumb. So if you got that down, you should be alright. the rest of it is all about comfortability.
