Having a hard time with the Folsom Prison Blues lesson - specifically the "groove".

[br]You seem to be playing something different than the notation indicates

[br]The notation shows 2 different repeating 3 note passages but you seem to be playing 4

Am sure it is my inexperience, but can ypu clarify how to play this exactly ?[br][br]

Many Thanks

Hi, thanks for your question. The notation is correct, and upon reviewing the performance video, that's what I'm playing - it's certainly what I intended. There may be a few spots along the way where I'm a bit sloppy so it looks like I'm playing a group of 4 notes?

Try slowing the performance video down to half speed (adjust by clicking on the cogwheel icon on the bottom right of the video frame) and have a look.

In order to get a better handle on the groove of the picking, it's always a great idea to just slow it way down. Work on the picking by staying on 1 chord only, finding a slow tempo where you can pick it correctly, then repeat, repeat, repeat. The repetition will burn it into your muscle memory, making it easier to play the groove up to speed.

Hope this helps - let me know how it goes!

Mike
