I have an Epi Hummingbird Pro. The first time I ever restrung it, I noticed that the bridge pins were sitting flush to the bridge. They were extremely difficult to remove because of this. I had read somewhere that Epi acoustics are famous for having bridge pin holes not reamed correctly.

Stock size on most Epiphones are 1T (0.210") with 3 degree tapered shaft. I went to Stewmac and ordered size 2A (0.220") with a 5 degree tapered shaft after being told that this should remedy my problem. I havent recieved them yet. My question is how far does the top of the pin need to stick up from the surface of the bridge? Do you think I did the right thing by ordering the oversize pins, or should I have done something different?

Now, if they are too big (I'm worried about the taper), should I try to maybe shave them down with sandpaper or an exacto knife, or should I ream the holes?

Thank you
