Hello all, my Name is Marvin. I have been playing on again, off again for about 5 years. Picking the guitar up for a while, strumming simple songs with open chords, getting bored quickly, then stopping again. I have wanted for some time to be able to take guitar beyond just washboarding chords. I want to make it sound good, have some accent, maybe even be able to pick a little and play some simple lead parts.

So now I'm ready to really put in some work and learn. I started on GF1 even though I'm not a total beginner. I wanted to make sure that I have the basics down pat. Some of those lessons were simply a review. Now I am at the section of simple melodies and I'm pretty excited. I'm actually going to learn some pickin'

My favorite music to play is Jimmy Buffett, but I also like Rock and Country. I havent decided which way to go once I complete GF2, country or rock, but I have a lot of time before needing to decide on that. Anyway I'm just glad to be here, and excited to take my guitar playing to the next level of fun.

Hi parrotheadmuddy7,

This is awesome! I was in the same boat as you for a long time, too. When I first started guitar when I was 17 years old, I was on and off again for a few years before I seriously committed time to it. I think that's perfectly normal. I'm glad you're sticking to guitar and please let us know if you had any questions about the lessons, or guitar playing in general. You'll come to find that the community in these forums are some of the best people, period.

Keep it up!

Best,

Billy
