That depends on what song you are playing! Different songs require different tones.

If you're playing Beatles or Stones, then you don't need much overdrive, if any at all. If you're playing AC/DC or Skynyrd, then you might need a little overdrive. If you are playing Van Halen or Metallica, then you need to crank up the overdrive!

In general, the best thing to do is set everything at 5: the overdrive & the EQ knobs (bass, mid, treble). Then set the master volume on the amp at 1 or 2. Then turn the knobs on you guitar all the way up.

Now you have a good starting point or baseline. As you need more overall volume you can turn up the master. If you need more or less gain, bass, treble, etc. you can make slight adjustments.
