well the heavier gauge a string is the higher the action will be, but since your strings are in the same gauge range (im assuming 9 to 42), the problem is probably with the bridge. Ask your Guitar Instructor to fix it for you

You might want to check the bridge. if the end which holds the E string might be too high. And it's ofcourse good to check the neck too, but I don't think that the neck is the problem.
Many Jacksons have a problem with their necks because they have been made out of two pieces of wood. If you check the back of your guitar's neck you'll notice the gluing (or how ever it is spelled) has not been made very wisely.

Hey Bob, is your bridge a Floyd Rose? How much higher is the E string than the string next to it? Is this a new guitar or are you the new owner of a previously owned guitar?

I think Floyd Roses (excuse me for swearing) have an adjustment allen bolt either side of the bridge??

Simple answer is to take it back to where it was purchased, I can't see it, hopefully they can, if they can't see it, talk really loud when you explain it to them, increase volume of voice each time you have to repeat yourself, they should be happy to help you, tell me if they don't............
