Getting your first guitar is a tough question. My very first guitar was a $150 Squier Stratocaster. I learned mostly everything on that guitar before I eventually got a really really cheap acoustic guitar, a Jasmine by Takamine. I got both of these guitars because of the way they felt in my hands. My best advice for anyone getting a new guitar is to try and go to a local music store where they have guitars and play with them until you find one that feels good to you.
