Just to pile onto Christopher's great advice, this "keep practicing" thing is there for anybody that plays...even Christopher :).

I always have things I'm trying to polish that I carry along as I learn new things. I always have some new tricky riff or lead part that is tripping me up. Other times it's a tricky chord change I'm trying to smooth out. Every time I pick up the guitar, I will run through them at least once. Sometimes it's takes a long while, but eventually it comes together.

And once they come together, you have to keep playing them periodically to keep them in your memory banks.

Sounds to me like you are off to a great start...keep up the great work!
