I practiced and I have learned that universal strum thats dpwn down up up down up that Caren teaches. Anyone know any others that are just as necessary. I tend to strum what I feel like instead of a specific strum pattern, but I am finding that strum that Caren teaches I use a lot. Its completely different than what I use playing House of the Rising Sun and songs like Bad Moon Rising. Is there a specific group of maybe three or four patterns that cover almost all country and old school rock and roll? Thanks for the help.

An instructor on here (Lisa McCormick) has a few different strumming exercise towards the end her Guitar Fundamentals 1 lessons. They are in 4/4 and 3/4. You might want to check those out.
