American Woman Fuzz

Hi Mike, love the American woman song. I don't have a AC30 but do have a AC10C1 and a little Yamaha THR10. I don't actually own a Fuzz pedal but was thinking of buying the Big Muff. I am not sure if that is too Fuzzy. Out of interest, can you remember what you were using for Fuzz in this song? Thanks Damien

Hi Damien, I cannot recall exactly what I used for that song since it's been about 5 years since I shot that tutorial. It most likely was a generic fuzz effect from a Boss multi-effect floorboard.

I think the Big Muff, while a great fuzz pedal, might be a bit too much for this particular song. That pedal tends to have tons of woofy gain in it. There actually is an American Woman Fuzz Pedal made by Tech21 if you want to check that out. My advice would be to try before you buy if possible.

Another trick to try is to kick in any distortion or overdrive, switch to the neck pickup, and roll the tone completely down. You might find yourself coming very close to that desired sound.
