What do you think of the "rumour" that nu-metal is dying, if not dead, which is what Im readin almost everywhere.

Here in Ireland and UK, young 10yr old rockers strut the streets with sum41, blink 182 and limp bizkit t shirts. Its like a craze. Everyone is mad into these bands playing songs who everyone and their granny could probably manage. (ok, im exagerating a bit there.)
Im 14, and most ppl in my class are loving nu-metal. But, and im probably wrong here, but i get the impression that they arent as talented as the rock bands of the 80's. I didnt go with the crowd, I'm a massive fan of acdc, guns n roses, led zeppelin, warrant, la guns, ratt, motley crue, etc. Im starting to notice that nu metal songs are very short, mostly around 2:50, when most classic rock songs were 5:30 or more.
I may be very wrong here, but does anyone really give a **** what happens?
Also, in reply to previous posts on this topic -
-Although guitars solos are a signature of classic rock, just because they're in a song doesnt necessarily make the song. Look at U2, hardly any solos, but a legendary rock band.
