Hello everyone. I am just learning the guitar and need to purchase a metronome. Any suggestions? I like the idea of a clip-on as it is easier to keep up with.

I searched & found this clip on metronome:

There's also this combo tuner & metronome that looks a bit more sturdy & functional.

I've never used either one, so I can't vouch for them. But Korg usually makes good products.

I've had this metronome for years & it still works. I use it occasionally in the studio.

There are also a bunch of downloadable metronome apps for smart phones.

Also, we have an online metronome that you can use on computer, tablet or phone.

Hope this helps!

Depending on what you are using the metronome to do, you can go to the toolbox and there is a metronome there on Guitar Tricks. I use that a lot, but as far as metronome use, I also discovered something else, that you should consider. You can use a metronome and play each note for each click of the metronome like when practicing spider excercises for fingering, and then you can also use it for a particular lick that might have four notes, and you set it slow enough that you can play all four notes within the span of each click. Either way, use a metronome to get better at playing and also understanding measure and beats of a song. Thanks, hope it helps.

update my new favorite metronome is just a phone app called soundbrenner.

It does everything, it's simple and free. you can adjust accents and also have it count sub notes like quarter notes etc.

It is not required, but it also has a wrist strap you can order that will actually pulse the beat on your wrist so you can feel it without hearing anything.
