Wow! Really enjoying these lessons and learning more than I ever have on guitar. About to finish Beginner 1 since Christmas. I'm starting again later in life (53) because I love all music and I want to play music for and with my grandchildren. I was in school band in middle thru high school. Played Bass in Jazz band in high school. I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar, and here I am. Life can get busy.

The best part of this site for me is that there is so much info we have access too and I really enjoy this forum for motivation. I can get very impatient with myself and after reading people doing the same I give myself a break and motivated to keep it up. Looking forward to getting to a place with my guitar that allows me to play music for and with my kids and grandchildren. So much to learn and GT has a lot to keep you busy and having fun. Thanks for sharing all your experiences and I hope to post more often. Pappaw

Welcome!

I've made a few posts about getting frustrated etc. I expect tp play something like right now but get mad when I can't. But just a couple days later I would have it. I laugh at myself now going back to those videos where I had such a hard time and now it's nothing. I can play without looking and it seems sooo slow tempo wise to play those now. Lol. Keep at it and give it the consistency and you'll be rewarded! Best of luck!

Glad you're on board! Welcome!

Making music with kids is one of the best things in this world, very fulfilling :)

And it is VERY good for the kids (esp. compared to let them play with tablets or whatever)

I'm done with GF1 and starting to work on fine tunning my tone, chord changes, and learning more chords. That dang F chord is still hit or miss and I'm looking forward to bar chords, NOT! But I'm still plugging away. I think I need to take a ninja class to work on my bar chord finger! Practice, practice, practice. I really appreciate all your support and it is good to know there are plenty of young people still working to play guitar. Now it's time to learn the songs for the kids. I'm still having fun and get excited when I can now get through a song with minimal errors and decent tone, as long as there's no dang F chord! It is getting better. We need an over 40 Forum page. Ha! Stiff fingers, does Bangay help, BAR CHORDS! Cheers!

Welcome. I'm glad you are enjoying the course. Good for you.

I'm 72 and on GF1. I'm going better than I expected. The old joints are standing up well to the onslaught. It will be nice to show the grandkids what is possible playing the guitar.

We need an over 70s forum.

Learning to play guitar at my age is a pleasure and keeps the old brain cells active. I'm really enjoying it and I'm glad I found Guitar Tricks.
