I felt the same way starting out. And I also tend more toward the classical or fingerpicking style. Now I have a steel string acoustic Yamaha and a Sigma Martin that has silk and steel which are easier on the fingers. Different sounds.

Just keep plugging along and you'll get there. But beware....there's always MORE to learn as I'm finding out.
