Hi Oliver,

Glad to hear you're moving along so well. I would suggest completing the fundamentals first and then having a go at the songs. Here's a helpful lesson. https://www.guitartricks.com/tutorial.php?input=654

Oliver, I have a suggestion because I was also in that situation at one point. What's really nice about GT is that you can follow step by step but you can also jump around to practice a song, work on a lesson etc. Since you are currently in Fundamentals 1, I would say that you will be playing some simple songs very soon with Lisa, but whether you can attempt your own songs depends on your ability. Do you know any of the open chords and can you play them and switch between them quickly? If so, then you are ready for many of the songs listed as basic songs. Most of us ol farts, I am 65 in March, learned guitar and played 3 chord rock and roll back in the 60's. If you don't have any open chords mastered yet, just be patient and keep going with your lessons. Hope this helps!!
