I noticed that when I play an F # Minor Barre chord, usually I have the low E deadened. Does this e need to be used? The rest of the strings arpeggiate fine. The low E is used on my other normal barre chords, so I wondered.

Hey John,

Short answer is, yes.

I assume this is not in specific reference to a song etc but just in general. If you're playing an F#/2nd fret barre chord, then the low E string needs to be struck as that is generally the root note.
