Eh, well its only Axl who is left from the original band and he is only 40, about the same age as Papa Roach.

I JUST HAVE TO SAY THAT THE NEWER BANDS OUT ARNT THERE BECAUSE THEY DESERVE IT.....THEY MAKE MONEY FOR THE COMPANYS.....THERE ALL A PRODUCT BEING SOLD TO PEOPLE THAT DONT HAVE A COMPLEX MUSICAL EAR AND FOR GOOD REASON....MOST PEOPLE HONESTLY DONT HAVE AN EAR TO APPRECIATE A BLAZIN SOLO OR RIFF.....SO IS SIMPLE MUSIC BAD?NO WAY....SOME OF MY FAVORITE TUNES ARNT ALL THAT HARD....BUT BEING LAZY IS UNEXEPTABLE....I SEE A SICKNING TREND OF BAD RIFFS,CLICHE VOCALS,IMAGES ALIKE(AND DOES IMAGE REALLY MAKE THE SOUND?)I HATE WHEN PEOPLE RAG ON THE 80'S FOR BEING HAIR......AT LEAST THEY SAT THERE AND WROTE DEEP,MEANINGFUL MUSIC.........SO MY POINT IS.....IF YOU DONT HAVE GOOD INSTRAMENTS,VOCALS,ARRANGMENTS WHAT DO YOU HAVE???

I LOVE NEWER BANDS(SCAR CULTURE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE)

Writing in caps lock is considered yelling in bulletin boards and chat rooms. A lot of people get really pissed off when someone does that b/c they feel it is very rude.

Hey, if anyone wants to see a music video about the state of mainstream music today check this out. Ogre from Skinny Puppy has released a solo album and there's a music video that goes along with it. It's a song called Cracker and it's an industrial pop song. It disses Trent Reznor, white rappers, and pretty much everything that is wrong with the mainstream.

I especially love the part where the soldier goes on a killing rampage and murders a rapper and his booty shaking dancers :D Stop motion videos are so cool.

"sad old hacks"?? "limp around a stage"??

Firstly, sorry to hear your dads an awful dancer.
Secondly... HAVE YOU SEEN GNR AT ROCK IN RIO 3!!!!
Almost everyone i know is interested in the return of guns n roses and if a tenth of those people actually end up buying the record it'll still be enough to make it the most successfull album of all time. Even my dad, who can dance, is interested in the new album!!
Thirdly!! To accuse one of the most energetic of frontmen of all time of "limping around" is laughable.
Maybe I'm generalising about "nu-metal" but I get frustrated at people passing off older bands as past it or old!! Hell, I know people who thought Slash was over 50!! hes only 37!!

Only if the musicians refuse to compromise, can we break this deadlock of generic and commercial, not to mention boring and predictable music! [/B][/QUOTE]
you are soooooooooooooo right about nu metal. I hate it. No one vvants to even try to play vvell. Everyone is happy vvith a lot of noise that is avveful. metal is being vvritten for those vvorthless preps, not for the people vvho truly like the style.

I think the "deadlock" in music is a result of people's need to copy anything they find cool. People like this nu metal so they copy it. Only thing is, they dont realise how lousy it is cause they're making to much money off it. If only some one would come back and prove they could play guitar, intsead of saying they could and playing one finger power chords.
And God said, 'Let there be rock!'

I'm reminded of the situation a few years, well, OK, a lot of years ago, when the heavy rock scene was drowning in sound-alike dreck. Deep Purple re-surfaced long enough to release "Perfect Strangers", and show all the wannabes how its done.

Don't get too stressed about it. It doesn't seem to matter where you are, there's local bands making real music.

Who really gives a **** about how music was back in the day? besides motley crue, slayer and to a lesser extent ozzy every one ****in sucked. and todays youth does not care about old-school metal since they did not grow up with it. so they look to korn, deftones, system of a down and slipknot for inspiration and in my opinion its ****in great. stop worrying about nu-metal because like it or not it aint gonna go away. besides atleast its cooler that 50 year old men wearing leather pants trying to make a comeback from the 70's. **** 80's metal i want the new ****.

I gotta dissagree with ya man. I happen to be one of todays youth. I couldn't give a flying fudgesicle about nu metal. Old school metal was comprised of better riffs and more advanced guitar players.
I think its more of a matter of todays youth playing guitar likeing old school metal and nu metal, and todays youth who dont play guitar likeing nu metal only. People who are into music usually appreciate more than one style of music.
Besides, like I've said before, nu metal is on its way out.
And God said, 'Let there be rock!'

Thats a good point you made. Peoples tastes do change, I know mine have. I used to be big on country when I was like eight, now I'm 15 and I like bassically anything with the word rock in it. Most people at my school who like nu metal also like one or another style of music. Its better to have a broad taste in music than a limited one.

cafeine is a starter drug from there nicotine to alcohol mary jane to harder stuff. Think of it there is no reason to put it in pop that is marketed to kids. Alcohol was in cough medicine when I was a kid, half the time I was vomitting from the alcohol in it not the flue I had.
