Personally I found Chris' series "Learning Blues Licks" very helpful in this area. I always strugled transitioning from chord to single notes (and the other way even more) and working throught that seires especially the first 6 lessons was very helpful. While the licks may not be exactly in the style you play the exercises on going from rhythm playing to adding a few fills to adding licks helped me a lot with being able to trassition between the two styles easily.
