I'm Bryan, just turned 53 years old today. I got tired of wishing that I played the guitar so I went out and bought one. I've been going through the lessons for two weeks now and have enjoyed every minute. Just wish my hands were more coordinated. I also need to get some callus' developed soon.

Welcome! Calluses and coordination come eventually. We've all been there or we are there right now.

Hey bturner, same story turing 50 this year and picked up the guitar having NEVER played an instrument.

After a month of daily practice, I am at 35% done in the core fundamentals level 1 and beginning to see my progress. I really find the notbook suggestion a key learning tool as I make sure that I practice song "would you" and "long long train" at least 20 times before I move on to another set of songs. Each practice session i try these 3 times each and move onto the 1 string melody lesson - its my homework before I move on. Like many others I usually watch a few videos ahead to prepare me for whats coming up.

I also really like the goal setting suggestion as I now have the goal of three simple christmas songs by December this year and Happy Birthday by March for my daughters birthday.

I meet othe rpeople who are learning guitar and just self-taught orr using a smattering of free videos and such and find that they may be able to strum a couple of songs by memory I ask what chords they are in and they dont know.

Keep up the practice and I hope you can check back later and tell me what you are finding frustrating or difficult .... Am is my bailywick right now as my goofy fingers keeping touching the E string!

Michael

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am taking the same approach as you. I run through everything before I add a new section. I also have a note book going. I'll keep plugging along.
