It's probably been discussed on this site before, but I'm wondering from those on the forum who have experience with LOTS of guitars and setups, whether you prefer an audio taper or linear taper for your Tone Pots and why. Also, if you use a treble bleed on the Audio or Tone pots, what you use with which. Thanks! J

That's mostly personal preference. It really depends on your guitar & how you use the pots & how you want them to respond. You might ask our resident tech for more specifics.

Also, there are lots of web resources on this topic.

Also, there's no substitute for hearing an example.

I use 500K pots on my Strats. But on most of them I have Dimarzio HS-3s. On my Strats with standard single coils I use 250K to keep the treble end balanced at high volume & with gain tone. All of them are audio (log) tapers, which is standard for Strats.

Regarding treble bleed circuits, again lots of web resources & demos. For example.

I have a treble bleed capacitor on one of my Strats. It's really useful for some things, especially music that has lots of dynamics (up & down in volume & attack). But I don't miss it that much on my other Strats with regular wiring.

IMO, a treble bleed can make a lot of difference when the guitar sound is isolated in a studio setting, but some of the difference in tone is so subtle that by the time you're cranked up & mix in drums, bass & vocals it really doesn't matter that much. :)

Hope this helps!
