Hello Guys and Gals. My courtesy intro to the forum.
Can a 60 year old learn to play? Let's wait and see!
I first tried to learn to play way back as a teenager. I failed miserably! It was all "baa baa black sheep" "twinkle twinkle", any advice about posture, "the physics" and finger exercising routines were as scarce as rocking horse poop.
I can see all that has changed dramatically and a few googles bring a ton of good solid and structured pointers of how's, when's, where's and what's.
Damn! If only I'd had the internet back then!! Anyways, bought myself a generic, reasonably priced Dreadnaught styled and two weeks in to my fresh start I'm already capable of a million times more than I was after a year of my teenage attempt. (by "capable", I mean that I can tune the thing and pluck a string without a buzz and twang!!)
Well, that's me, time to stop rambling, and wish me luck folks.
All the best,
Joe

ps My goal for the first 12 months of my fresh start is to be able to strum a simple, in time and in tune, rockabilly 3 chord boom chicka rhythm for three minutes! Which, at the moment seems more difficult than the summit of Everest. Lifetime Goal? Hmm, has to be a decent rendition of The Pirates version of Shakin' all Over (70's, minus Johnny Kidd) - in my dreams huh?
