Kurt had a terrific voice. He was a great songwriter, had an amazing charisma, and his guitar playing, even though people often put him at the bottom of the guitar scale, was totally appropriate and it was there for the song. I have discovered the tremolo thanks to Kurt (on heart shaped box I think) and I have practiced the guitar through lots of nirvana's songs.
Even though I'm more on the blues/rock/shred side now, I sometimes play around some of his licks, or guitar riffs, and I know that they'll stand the test of time. Come as you are will be there 30 years from now, just like smells like teen spirit etc.

Anyways dude, find a friend, a teacher. Your guitar will lead you nowhere, but it will be by your side, like a best friend. Enjoy your trip with her.
