in the lesson for minor pentatonic scales, I can't seem to find the same scale taught in the lesson on the scale finer in the tool box. This is kind of confusing me. Can any one explain.

Thanks

Which lesson are you working on?

The primary box shape for minor pentatonic is what the scale finder calls Pattern 2. Click on Pentatonic Minor, then whatever key you are working in, then click Pattern 2. That's typically called "box 1".

Remember, the Scale Finder is simply a reference tool. It always regards "Pattern 1" as whatever pattern that places the root note on the low E string & played by the pinky, regardless of any other factor. Then, it covers all the strings & frets with notes from that scale in that position. Likewise for the other patterns: the goal is simply to cover the fretboard with the scale pattern.

Alternately, the goal of any tutorial is to teach the basic unit of the scale in a way that you can apply to music.

I cover the theory of pentatonic scales in this tutorial.

Hope that helps! Please ask more if necessary & have fun. :)
