His music is "just ok" for me. Never really understood why he has such a wide appeal and following.

I knew the name but none of his work before a few weeks ago. Then I saw the Dead & Company show at MSG on Halloween. Oh my, what a talent!! I absolutely loved what Trey did for the Fare Thee Well shows. But I found I enjoyed John Mayer even more. The ease of playing and unhurried way he lets melodies build and go where they want is amazing. I think he plays more like Jerry then Trey did. Not to mention the vocals, not that Phil let Trey sing much. I thought the Althea with John Mayer singing lead was simply spectacular!

yes I agree about what he does with his melodies. very cool,calm and collected. go onto you tube and search john Mayer at Glastonbury Park. its a ripper ;-)
