Intro
Hi, I'm Michael, just learning the blues. Playing a Strat, starting to think I should have started out with a semi-hollow for the real blues tones. Anybody got a semi-hollow out there they would like to sell to a beginner?

What are you using for amp and any effects..
Try 7 on treble
5 on mids
5, 6 or 7 bass
I personally like a touch of reverb
It you have any type of delay effect set it for a little slapback..
Also some of your tone comes from your hands technique.. A slight damping using palm mute works well..
Try using alternate picking with a harder strum on your up stroke..

Some great blues has been played on a strat...Buddy Guy, SRV, Clapton, Gallagher, etc.
Compart's suggestions may very well get you where you want to be with the gear you have.

Hi everybody. I am Chris aka nanselmus and whenever I can afford it, I am a member of GT. I was on Jamplay and am still there, but their website is not as cohesive and navigable as GT. Plus, Anders is a great teacher. I wish they would get Dennis Hodges from JP over to GT.
I love metal, bluegrass, almost anything that kicks ass.
Wishing you the best.

Nic McCartney, 47, England, have now owned guitars since I was 18 but always seem to be looking at beginners courses..........had 4 years of lessons, played one gig with a "build a band' project and ended up playing mostly bass......messed my hand up lifting groceries which needed surgey to repair so left hand not working as well anhymore.
Looking to get beyond beginner finally.
Have a Framus Panthera Studio Custom, a 1 watt Blackstar HT-1. Apple Mac Focusrite 2i2 which I just bought and it is really very good.
