Different woods have different characteristics in how they resonate,and, are perceived differently by the ear -ie, An Alder bodied strat with the same pickup as a Mahogany bodied gibson will *usually* sound brighter.

Some people notice these differences more than others.Yours has a mahogany body,so I would expect it to sound somewhere between a Tele and an SG,but this is supposition.
