I've decided to jump on the GT band wagon to see if there are many videos on rhythm guitar playing.
just signed up
I've been "playing guitar" on and off for 3-4 years. I've always ended up getting frustrated as my rhythm is none existant unless someone explains what the strumming pattern is for a song.

Hey Andrew, Welcome to GuitarTricks.
Sounds more like a timing problem.
To get a better explanation, direct your question to Instructor Lisa McCormick or Caren Armstrong.. But here's my take on the problem!
Try just listening to a song and picking up the drumbeat or bass note. Dampen all the strings and strum with the beat.. When that feels comfortable and the sounds fit add two down strums. Then try two strums one up one down.
If things feel good start going with the chords..
Good luck and have fun..
