Is the seagull s6 a good guitar I read pretty good things about it but don't know anyone who plays one. I'm just a beginner and am learning on a Ibanez PF10. Is the Seagull an up grade from this guitar.

I'm a BIG fan of the Seagull S6 guitars. I believe they have two versions: one that comes with a built-in preamp and one that doesn't.

You've got a solid top, cedar construction (I think there's also a Spruce version) and the $420ish price tag isn't bad at all

Here's a fairly thorough review:

I have an S6 that I bought new back in 2001. The action was a little high, so I had the saddle lowered. It's been a great and reliable guitar. I played it as part of our church choir for a couple of years.

Throughout the years I've read good things about it.

Where did you get the S6 for that price? I thought they retailed a good bit higher. I could be wrong.

Hi,

I have an S6. Cedar top with no electronics. The guitar is plenty loud as I only play by myself. I love it. The neck is a bit bigger than most acoustics but you get used to it. I have the regular version. You can get the slim one and I heard it's great too. The guitar is not fancy but I think it's beautiful. No flaws when I got it new last year. It is definitely worth the price. Don't bother with the $100-$200 range. You will be sorry. I lowered the action by shaving down the bridge. No biggie. I returned a Fender acoustic and got this one. Good decision
