I have a Charvette that I love to play, unplugged that is. I put an EMG pickup in it years ago. I never liked the sound though, which always felt more like an indicator of when the 9volt battery was due to die. I am considering installing a screaming demon in the bridge position (double coil slot) and something jazzy like a Seymour Duncan STK-S2 Hot Single Coil Pickup at the neck position. I am attracted to the screaming demon for its hot output, but I am worried that it may be too hot. I want a tone like Warren Dimartini, George Lynch, or Rob Cavestany from Death Angel.
The Alnico 2 pick up for the neck seems pretty cool also but I am not sure if they make a single coil version.
Should I just settle for the classic Seymour Duncan JB instead. I want a pick up that picks up the artificial pick harmonics easily just for that extra dynamic. I love to hear guitars that scream and sustain well.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeff
