Hello, just joined 31 May. A novice player. Tried a teacher but he was impatient with my slow progress. Also, I bit hard to learn my first instrument at age 55.

Welcome! i Am new to guitar this is my second week, cannot tell you how much I am enjoying this, Iam 52,am now able to play 6 different chords, some scales and reading tablature for melodies! I make time every evening after work even if it is only 30 minutes to repeat everything I can remember,do the spider finger exercise and am shocked at how much I have learned, my weekends I spend a lot of time practicing throughout the day as much as I can. Good luck and keep practicing, it seems to become easier every time I practice.

Thanks for the encouragement and the tips...sounds a like a good plan to practice every day after work for 30 minutes of so.

Teresa,
imho the most important thing is that you have fun learning and playing guitar.
I didn't play the guitar for 30 years and playing electrical guitar is even completely new for me. My main problem with myself is my impatience. I know how to play the single notes or simple chords but somehow the commands sent from brain got lost or manipulated on the way to my fingers ;)
So, take your time and have fun practicing.
