Guitar finger picking

I am a beginner, but I wondered if anyone could explain to me the finger picking pattern that Johnny Cash uses on "The Engineer's Dying Child" "Paradise" and "My Mother Was a Lady" from his "Personal File" CD.

Also the pattern used by Sarah Jarosz on "Build Me Up From Bones" and "Run Away." Both of these songs are I believe on you tube.

Caren Armstrong and Lisa McCormick both have great beginner finger picking lesions. If you review a few of their lesion you may find what you are looking for.
