Check out Yamaha for some good well priced guitars. I bought an RGX420S for 700$ CND. Really good guitar.

I still play in my 15 watt Roland DAC-15XD and I'm really happy out the sound. I don't need much more since all I do now is play and record myself on my computer.

Then you should consider buying a used guitar. You can find some pretty amazing guitars for close to nothing if you take time to shop around.

I got an Gibson SG in exchange for two old guitars 8 years ago. The salesman was asking 250$ CND!! For a genuine Gibson it was really a deal. It wasn't in a really good shape thought.

I waited 2 years to have that deal come around. Before that I had a 60$ guitar Something like a Hando II. Just a copy of a strat but it played real well.

Look into buying a strat or strat pack, @ 300 or less canadian. Mexican models @ 300-400, Asian 150-250. These are going prices for new ones. Strats have a wide range of capabilities and the prices can't be beat, oh ya and the whammy bar rocks; a tip though leave the wild wammy bar solos to the end of your song since this will nock the guitar out of tune.

Aight dude. I started out with and I still got it. Its a Squier Stratocaster. It was only like 220 when I got it. Prolly like 180 range now. It treats me well. Or, you could go with something like an Ibanez... cause sometimes those are pretty cheap. And Try a peavey blazer 158 its like 12 watt... It should be loud enough.
Rock on.
