hello. ok i bought this new seiko tuner cuz i lost my old one and i dont know how to use it. first i dont know what the string's names are supposed to be, but i looked at some paper i had and well i guess i got it right but the thick string, or the 1st string is supposed to be an E, so i tuned it up and down and then i got E1, but then i got E2 and E3 and stuff so i dont know which one to choose!! so how do i use this. Also, lets say the string u r playing is supposed to be an E and the tuner shows its an A, do u tune up to E or down to E???and what are the strings' letters in normal tuning?? also i have KEY and then it says C, what does that mean. and wut are pitch, note, and KEY for??? sorry about all these questions but i just got this stuff and i dont know how to use it....
joe.

Ok,here's some basic stuff ..tuning is a pain..at first till you develop your ear.

This is what a concert pitch (standard) tuning for A is

5th string open, just pick it dont put your playing hand on the neck

http://www.guitartricks.com/2000/trick.php?trick_id=1734

I advise also learning to tune without the tuner and getting your ear used to roughly how the guitar sounds on each string, then fine tuning it with your electronic friend.
Basic tuning:

Low e @fret 5 = 5th string (A) open
a @fret 5 = 4th string (D) open
d @fret 5= 3rd string (G) open
g @fret 4= 2nd string (B) open
b @fret 5= 1st string Open =E

Ignore the fancy bits on the tuner and just work out how to get the gtr in tune and read the manual later, good luck.

PS -needle straight up is in tune.
