Hey guys, i was wondering what this G chord is called?

E----2
B----3
G----0
D----0
A----0
E----3

i Actually thought it was a G6 but it can't be can it? It sounds best if the 0 on the A string is not played

Possible chord names: D/G, F#m#5/G

I use this to help me name some of those unknown chords.

Gmaj7(add 2)

Notes:
E----F#
B----D
G----G
D----D
A----A
E----G

Scales degrees
E----major 7th
B----5th
G----root
D----5th
A----2nd
E----root

G major 7th with an added 2nd. Gmaj7(add2) The 2nd is going to sound muddy if you use much or any gain. If you leave it out you'll have a Gmaj7.

E----2
B----3
G----0
D----0
A----X
E----3

Hope this helps!

How do you play a major 7'th chord as a barre chord with the root on the 6'th string. I know minor is as follows, but not major.

A minor 7'th as an example

E--5
B--5
G--5
D--5
A--7
E--5

What will it look like in major?

Major 7 in 3rd position:

Notes:
E----X
B----D
G----B
D----F#
A----X
E----G

Scales degrees
E----X
B----5th
G----major 3rd
D----major 7th
A----X
E----root

There are many others ways to play G major 7 as well!
