I am looking at a lot of guitars right now, i have a Lefty Ibanez PF model acoustic, but i want to upgrade to an acoustic electric. I have seen many very nice acoustic guitars, but i would like to ask for your input on these model acoustics: Dean, Martin, Ovation, Gibson, any other good guitars that wont be over 1000 bucks. Im also considering getting one fo those Dobro resonator style guitars, can anyone give me input on these guitars? thx. remember that these are lefty's... thx

Lefty guitars are always more expensive than they should be. The best acoustic guitars I've played were by taylor and I know they make some elec-acoustics, but they tend to be in the upper half of 3 digits. Personally I like the feel of guitars by Ovation better for the cost, though. I've heard some good stuff about epi archtops, but last I checked they were all over the 1k mark. I could be wrong. I don't know. Hope some of that was of help.

Looking at you post, I'd say you might want to take a serious look at Ovation, Martin & Gibson don't have alot to offer under $1000, Dean probaly doesn't make a $1000 acoustic worth $200, Takamine might be worth a look, but I really believe for the money Ovation is hard to beat, and don't forget the other half of the Electro/Acoustic sound is your amp/sound system, a regular guitar amp rarely makes a good acoustic amp, not enough high end, high dollar E/A's sound like a tele and a 10 dollar amp if you don't have something good to plug them into...............

Personally, I like Dean and Ovation over the others. I also recommend Epiphone or Alvarez.
