Hi Gang. So happy to join you at last. I hope you all have some advice to prevent me from making the same mistakes I made in a prior guitar life. I paid for private lessons for over a year. The progress I was making was not what it should have been for one simple reason.............My fret hand wrist was killing me. Tried everything , including acupuncture. Finally I had to stop playing and took over a year off. Advance tape to present day. I am dying to start again, but am REALLY leery about reinjuring my wrist. It feels normal now and I have strummed a bit w/o pain. If anyone has advice re: warmups or anything else that would keep me playing with joy and no pain, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks: Dennis

Yes, you should definitely make time to stretch & take care of your arms, hands & fingers! Also, try to play with as little tension as possible. Relax!

I have a tutorial on warm up stretches here.

Ask more if necessary & best of success with your guitar playing!

Find the reason (technique) for the pain and correct it and seek seek medical attention if you are injured. Playing with an injury can cause long term damage
