NIB Solo - Black Sabbath
My buddy loaned me a Black Sabbath play along book and I was excited about recording some of the solos. Here's one from the song "NIB." I'd highly recommend learning this song if you're looking for something that's challenging for a beginner/intermediate player, yet not too difficult. There are a lot of bends and legato to practice. And I tried to get as close as I could to Tony Iommi's tone with what I had:

I agree with you that this solo is a good start to get to learn the basics - specifically the pentatonic scale. Plus it is in Em, so all the more easier :)
I really respect you for not over distorting the tone. It is clean and so I guess makes it more difficult to play. It is always a challenge to make a single coil sound like a humbucker, and vice versa.

Thanks!
The lack of distortion definitely gave me some issues with my hammer-ons sounding out loud enough, and I didn't have as much sustain. But for me it's maybe a little harder playing as clean with more distortion, because I have to mute more.
Just curious, what do you think makes the Em pentatonic scale easier? To me it seems like pentatonic minor is just as easy in any key lol. Unless I'm missing something.

Because I find it easy to visualise the fretboard reference to the 1st string. Also, I find it easy as there are 2 open strings I can use.

I'm not totally familiar with the song, but it sounded familiar. I could definitely hear Tony Iommi's sound/style in there.
Sounded great!! You hit the legato and trills nicely.

It was in the link in RGX312l's sig. It looks like he's covered quite a few Sabbath tunes. I checked out War Pigs since it's my all time favorite Black Sabbath tune.
