Hello everyone,

I played a long time ago in my teens & early 20's until I figured out that starving was not a good thing to do.

I am 57 now and picking up the guitar for the 2nd time (this time I hope to do it right). Apparently I had a lot of bad habits that are presently being overcome.

This is gonna be fun. I have the time, resources, and the will to learn the right way to play. Maybe this time, I can actually make a couple bucks at playing and if not that's okay too. Just want to find some folks with similar tastes in music and have some fun.

Good Luck to everyone getting started and G-d Bless you

Brian

Welcome! Working on correct habits sounds like a good plan. Slow and steady wins the race. :)

Brian,

First, welcome aboard! Secondly, I fully understand your situation. I am 52, and this is my third time trying to learn the guitar.

I have to say, I am making more progress this time than I ever made in the past. The resources that are available now make it much easier. Just take your time and enjoy the ride. The Guitar Fundamentals course is terrific.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. Lisa McCormick is really putting me through the paces. It's fun, but I can't say that my fingers weren't sore after that "tab" lesson last night.

This has been the most organized and structured lesson plan for guitar I have ever taken. I'm enjoying it so much, last week I fired my guitar teacher. I love the idea of being able to learn at my own pace rather than one lesson, once per week for 30min. THAT SUCKS!!!!! I just wish I had more time to practice so I could move further faster. I want to learn some of the more popular songs so bad but know that I'm light years away from being able to play rifs like Clapton or Hendrix.

My excitement level is up and my determination to do this is there. I've given myself 6mos - 1yr to have enough of the basics down to start jamming with other people (shamelessly). Right now, I think I'd make a total fool out of myself if I attempted to play with anyone (that's the frustrating part; I get tired of playing by myself).

Anyway, thanks again for the words of encouragement. I'm looking forward to "Part 4 of Fundamentals 1."

Thank you,

Brian
