Hello GT !
I used a backing track from [Megabacking Tracks] to do this piece. My parts were all recorded direct into GarageBand. Nothing tricked-out, just a stock Ibanez RG370 into an iMac.

Wishing everyone here a happy holiday season ahead.

Not really my bag of tea when it comes to sound and music, but I must do say you do rock that guitar man!
Thumbs up!

Sounds pretty cool. I would've liked it more if the riff the beginning was a bit louder compared to the other guitar. It was pretty hard to hear it, so maybe next time, try and adjust your volumes a bit. Make the riff a bit louder, turn down the volume on the "clean-ish" guitar, and I think the overall recording will sound a bit better.
Just my two cents :)

Thanks guys for your encouragements and tips. I think it is obvious that the levels are not bang on to say the least. I'll work on that.
I guess the 'Christian Rock' vibe is because it is almost entirely in the major scale, which gives that positive feeling. Not my original intention but I'm glad to discover a new interpretation for it :)
Cheers :)

Lol the major scale can definitely give you the Christian rock vibe if you're not careful. It doesn't sound too much like that, I was mostly joking. But I think you're on the right track.

redone the piece. i was thinking of how it would sound like if played 'live'. so no harmonised part this time.

the levels are still not right.

Still sounds awesome. I think it sounds a lot like the kind of music I could enjoy listening to while working out or driving to a gig. It's got a very nice upbeat feel to it, so keep that up.
Also, the levels actually sound a bit better this time. They're still a bit off, but I think it sounds better now (or maybe it's just that I used another pair of headphones for the second recording) :)

ok, this is one last time, I'm leaving it alone :)
I did some tweaks to the levels and EQ. Also modified the compression to the gtr track. Objectives are :
1) Have a more natural sound to the backing track (less 'sweet')
2) Blend the lead gtr more into the mix.
Thanks to all of your input --esp Kasperow
