I put a new Dean Markley accoustic pickup in my Martin DCM on Monday. It worked fine through my Fender Champion amp, not perfect, but it worked ok for practicing. Today, the pickup doesn't seem to work at all, not thru my Champ or thru my Hot Rod Deluxe.
Are these pickups that fragile that one half day's use can destroy them? I have tried to be gentle with it.

Further application of reviewing the instructions, the cable is jammed into the plug end (that plugs into amp) and is held in place with a set screw. Instr's tell one to undo set screw then cut two or three inches off cable, jam it back into plug, tighten set screw, then see if it works. Several trips down this road have failed to yield a signal to the amp other than a loud buzz. It's haphazard at best whether or not the cable is making connection at all in the plug. Not impressed with this given the price of this pick up. I may take it back and/or Guess I'll have to try miking the guitar or get an accoustic with onboard electronics.

Do you still have the pickup? I'd be more than happy to help out. Full disclosure, I am with Dean Markley.

Yes I still have the pickup. I followed instr's to loosen set screw, pull wire out of plug, clip the wire and re-insert it into the plug. It seems haphazard if the inner-most wire will make contact with the contact it is supposed to and the outer wires seem to fray too easily. It is difficult to get a clean, straight "clip" of the wire to enable replacement into the amp plug connector?
I was out of town for 5 days, sorry for delayed reply.
