I have played on and off for years, but never really got much past basic open chords and a little bluegrass techniques. I am another self taught person, who, as seems to be usual in the forums here, hit a roadblock and couldn't progress on my own.
I gave up guitar for years until about 1 year ago I bought a new Yamaha and all the accoutrements, Case, guitar stand, picks, capo, etc. I initially played for a couple weeks, then fell off again. I haven't picked it up in months.
Thing is, I really want to learn how to play well. I consider myself "technical" in my play because I can follow music but cannot get the "soul" of the music. In part that is because I don't know how to strum, or play "styles".
Maybe I can do that if now I use this site, and the ahrd part, use it daily! I will continue this 2 week trial, and if I can get motivated again, maybe I can finally get some "soulful music" playing, which is what I know I need to actually enjoy playing! Today I turned 55, so I am kinda giving myself a birthday present by trying this once again.
Sorry for the long intro, but hey! I posted on my first day of joining!
Hebrews 12:2 - looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
