This might be kind of a confusing question, but here it goes:

If I'm understanding what a noise gate does correctly, it completely turns of any sound when you are not playing, by only allowing sound when there is sound loud enough from your playing. So when you're not playing: no buzzing, no noise. But when you are playing, it sounds exactly the same as if you didn't have a noise gate. In other words, a noise gate does not remove noise from the signal. When the gate is open, both the signal and the noise will pass through.

If that's correct, then is there any effect/pedal that can eliminate or minimize certain sounds WHILE you are playing? Like it would block the buzzing or ringing that's not as loud as what you're actually playing, but still let the notes you ARE playing through? Or does that not exist?

I'm thinking that would have to exist, because if you use a compressor, won't it make those unwanted sounds as loud as what you're actually playing?

I know this is off topic. Just wanted to ask you if you seen, the link I sent . For the tight metal amp pro by amp tweaker.
And it has a built in noise gate!
And ur correct a noise gate does not remove noise from a signal. When the gate is open both the signal and noise will pass through.

Yeah I checked it out. Looks like it would be perfect. I've also been seeing a lot of high gain amps that have built in noise gates. That's what made me start thinking about this lol

By the way I bought the Blackstar HT-1R a few days ago. It sounds amazing. Especially since it's not too loud so I can turn it up high enough.

Yeah I know what you mean. Do you have any issues with not being able to turn yours up loud enough? Like would you rather have a 1watt for playing in your room, or is the 5watt not too loud?
