would love a few pointers on how neil constructs his solos, and maybe an artist study for him for acoustic and electric playing?

I grew up listening to him and my cover band pulled some of his songs in when we could. He is a very passionate player who loves music and has influenced many great artist (such as Pearl Jam) and some wanna be's like myself...

I just learned how to play the acoustic live version of Cowgirl in the Sand. He's tuned down a whole step, and he plays an Am to an Fmaj with an open 1st string. But there are a lot of hammer ons and pull offs going on. He hardly ever plays regular chords. He also palm mutes the first couple strums.
