I too had been creeping around here for about the first month I joined before I introduced myself. That was about 7 months ago. But to me the most valuable resource is being able to ask the instructors direct questions. So take advantage of that if you're already not.
I like some 80's music as well. Did you ever get into Rush, Sabbath, or Yngwie ?

I never got into Yngwie but did get into Rush and much later Sabbath.
I like a lot of regional bands like Shooting Star, Zebra, Gamma, 701, The Sherbs, and others.
