I was wondering if the F Major chord is really supposed to be as hard as it is for me, and is it really hard for anyone else? I have been trying for the past 2 days to get it right and have only been able to strum it right twice now. I'm sure I will eventually get it, but is it this hard for most people. As well, does getting the chords down get much easier after my fingers callous over? As of the moment they hurt, not unbearable, however I have to break my practice time down into 3 20 minute chunks throughout the day. After 20 minutes my fingers just can't take anymore.

Yeah the regular F Major was a hard one for me too. Most people have an easier time playing the bar chord version of F major. I'm guessing you're having the most trouble with your first finger covering both strings? You just need to keep at it lol

Open F is simply a hard chord to learn and takes time. In a way that's a gift, it teaches you learning some things will take time. After a while you will be able to play an open F as easy as an open D and it will sound great. Just like the other things that take time will.

Yes, the F is a hard chord to play. I'm still trying to get it down, I am definitely getting better though, most of the time it sounds okay, my problem is that I keep muting the 2nd / B string. Persistence is key. I remember having real difficulty with the D chord, but now I look back and wonder how that could have given me so much trouble. I'm hoping in a few months I will look back at the F chord in the same way (oh and that dratted B7 chord as well.......)

I have problems with the F chord, too, as well as the B7. I practice each day and I am hoping eventually I will get it. I guess it just takes a lot of practice. I am also trying to learn some basic soft rock picking. Practice, practice, practice. My fingers are killing me!! But I am seeing a tiny bit of progress each day which is exciting.

I am just learning as well and was really psyched how easy the chords are until I ran in to F also. It seems do-able with practice so I'm happy to run into everyone's comments here which seem to confirm that. But.. what about B? Is anyone else finding that kind of impossible?
