I geuss i had some good karma!!!
Heres part of the story.

I bought a american standard fender strat.
Well the seller states the guitar has never been used.
No scratches or dings for $845. Well i know a good deal when i see one.
So i buy it,when i opened it and took it out the box it looked great
It had sierra color.when i changed the strings on it i noticed there were
Scratches, not to bad though.i contact the seller he says he will give me $50 off.
Agreed.he asked if i can take some pictures.
And while i was takin pictures thats when i noticed
This Guitar was full of them and had a crack on
The fretboard.
So i have to pay to ship it back to him.what a nightmare.

Which leads me to a 2011 american standard Fender strat
In mint condition. Yes its obviously used but he was very honest.

Has no scrathes or marks of anykind.and im thinking why is that.
Well he bought this guitar plus a vox v2 valvetronics 20 watt tube
Amp and he losy the desire to play.

So he is gonna through it all in guitar, amp like i really need an amp a boss pedal tuner.

All case candy and guitar stand.what a deal.

He originaly had no returns.untill i asked him if he would at least put up a 7 day return
He agreed.Guitar is black w/ white pickguard.

Maple fretboard which will be a first for me.
All my others are rosewood.
I will just say its cheaper in price then the first one.

And you can find that vox amp for sale on reverb.com.
Thats were its goin.it will be aside my Marshall and blackstar amps.

Great place to sell and buy.they only take 3% of final sale.ebay 12% of sale big difference.

Sorry for the SA.

Hope this new part of the story has a happy ending for you!!

I love my maple neck and fretboard on my strat. Black with the white scratchplate it will look like Clapton's Blackie strat!

Once I'm done with my music store gig in a couple of weeks, I'll be breaking my strat out again. Since my LP is new, I wanted to use it exclusively for a while to get really in tune with what it can do.

Let us know how it goes if you win it!

Years ago I never, ever really wanted a good ol' Standard Strat. Just never did it for me....then.

Now >>

So, I changed my mind and I love playing it. I've learned much about how a Strat can really rock by not overdriving/distorting too much. Mine plays like butter too...been meaning to do a couple of updates with some Texas Specials and a new MOP pickguard but I never actually get to it...

Have fun with the Strat...I love my Gibby's I've had and all manner of other guitars but the Strat has been a fave.

Well I lost that deal.like you said u get ur hopes up and someone
Comes and out bids you at the last min.its ok,the last thing I needed was
An amp.at the time I had my bid in it was at $743 and $39 shipped.
Thats a good deal.

Buts its fine because I had found a 2008 American Standard strat.
In the color I wanted , which is blonde w/ white pickgaurd.

No mods looks great great condition. Other then alittle non noticeable paint chip. On
Bottom of guitar hase all original case candy yummy.

It started out as an auction, no bidders so I made him an offer and he agreed to it.
It will be shipped tomorrow. So I ended up with a pretty decent deal.

I better like it because there are no returns.he was the original owner.

Oh yeah it has a maple fingerboard. Ill know more when I get it.
Love those fenders, I was missing out all this time.

Guys go to peters guitar celler, on reverb.com.have gear for sale from tuners to amps
Ect.

Can't go wrong with a blonde :-). Anders plays a blonde strat with a black pickguard on some of his lesson here. I like both blonde strats and teles.

One day I'll own a blonde tele :-).

Good luck!!

:-) Add an LP to that Tele and you may have to move from sleeping in the car to the grass!!

Only problem with LP Classics (what used to be called Traditional) is they weigh a ton! No modern weight relief in those babies!

What I love about my LP Standard with its 60's profile neck is it weighs just a bit more than my strat, neck smiliar to the strat profile, yet screams like a LP!

Since I got my LP, I'm good to go for a while. I won't soon forget the pain I went through before I came upon this guitar.

Yep i remember. You almost got stuck with a Prs s2.
For me the first fender didnt work out,i hope this next one does the 2008.

And after i bought it,the next day the seller put up a beautiful 2000 strd. Natural wood finish.
Had he told me he had that, and was puttin it for sale. I so would of bought the 2000. It was $150 more.but this Guitar i just loved that natural wood look.
But i like what i bought.should have it tommorow or monday. Guitar shopping can be very painstaking.

It's actually a Gibson ES333. It was made for a short time in Memphis. It was meant to be the 'Studio' version of the ES335. It originally sold for about $900ish but I did a search not long ago and it has a value of up to $1500 now. They only made it for a couple of years about a decade ago.

It is a 335 really. The only different is the Gibson logo is a screenprint and it actually has a cover (a la a Les Paul) for electronics/tone-volume pot acces on the back.

Pick-ups are the 496R's and they are not great PU's on that guitar. I've been planning on doing a 59/59T configuration and a few other things to 335 it up.

Great to play though and even with the 496's, still sounds really good.

Jeff,

Thanks for replying, the guy who taught me to play guitar had a few guitars and would play different ones during different lesions. One day he found an ES 335 at a local music store, grabbed a couple guitars for trade and some cash and got the ES 335. I can't say it made him play any better, but what he played sounded way different coming out if it. It's partly what made me want the Hagstrom HJ-500 I bought. Sometimes when your looking for a sound, it just takes a hollow body to get it.

Thanks...

Mail man delivered my fender standard today. Man what a setup this guitar has.
All i had to do is change the strings on it.
My god it plays so well,no buzz ,smooth and so comfortable to play and hold.

Pretty damm good for a 2008 ,i geuss. This one feels so much better then the 2013 i sent back. Im sure its because of the setup. And i really dig the maple neck.
I didnt know they gloss the maple fretboards.
It has some normal pick scrathes on it,but thats fine. You cant see them unless your lookin under a bright light. Ok off to playing.

That's awesome Axe!!! Glad it finally worked out for you.

Yes, the maple fretboards on strats are unlike anything else I've played. So smooth and easy on the fingers!! I think they look great too.

I'm not surprised that you see a big difference between this older strat and the newer one you had. When I was guitar shopping a few months ago, I picked up an American made strat and the neck just felt like crap in my hands. It didn't have the solid smooth feeling mine has. It wasn't a cheap guitar either. I'll never be letting to of that strat...my kids will inherit it, or bury me with it :-). Now there's an image for a viewing at a funeral - dude laid out with his guitar with him.

Going back to the 2013 strat.
1: it felt alittle heavier
2: neck not as smooth ,
3:frets are larger. There is really no fret wear on my 08.
Over all the 08 w/ maple fb,just feels so much better.
I would recomend anyone thinkin of buyin a fender , don't buy a new one.
Just my opinion. And experience from playing the two.
